A bit of history.
The prototype for this model was constructed by the Pacific Car and Foundry Company specifically to transport beer from the breweries to their distribution network. The cars were designed to maintain a constant temperature throughout their entire journey without use of a mechanical refrigeration device, (Road Diesel Power plant...).
The prototypes can be seen in virtually 9 our of 10 freights on today's railroad scene, and they are many times seen in blocks of 6-10 cars at a time.
About this model kit...
This is a seriously detailed model in all respects. Although some parts are not perfectly "Fine scale", (Notably the ladder rungs and brake piping..), the molded on detail certainly qualifies for the title. Although this kit won't exactly "fail" together, with a little effort you should end up with a model that'll stand up to the best of them, and quite likely make many of your others pale in comparison in the process!
About our pre-decorated kits.
Our pre-decorated model kits are cast in a colored plastic that is a real close, but probably not perfect paint match. So, although we've already pre-painted the sides, ends and brake shot for you, in the steps outlined in the instructions that follow, it's advisable to touch up each part prior to assembling it to the model so as to minimize the chances of getting stray.
